At Ron’s Original Bar & Grille in Exton, PA, we’ve always prided ourselves on offering great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a commitment to quality. As our community continues to grow in its awareness of health and wellness, we’ve been reflecting on how we can better serve our customers—not just with delicious meals, but with food that supports long-term health. That’s why we’re excited to announce that we are on a mission to become a completely seed oil-free restaurant in 2025.

Why We’re Making the Change

The decision to move away from seed oils is rooted in our dedication to the health and well-being of our customers. For years, seed oils like soybean, canola, sunflower, and corn oil have been used in cooking because they’re inexpensive and easy to store. They’ve become so ubiquitous in the food industry that many people don’t even realize they’re consuming them. However, recent research has brought to light the potential health risks associated with seed oils, and as a responsible restaurant, we knew it was time to make a change.

The Health Risks of Seed Oils

Seed oils are high in omega-6 fatty acids, which, when consumed in excess, can contribute to chronic inflammation in the body. Chronic inflammation is linked to a variety of health issues, including heart disease, diabetes, and autoimmune disorders. The refining process of seed oils also exposes them to high heat and chemical treatments, which can create harmful byproducts and trans fats that are detrimental to our health.

As a restaurant committed to offering quality meals, we couldn’t ignore these concerns. We believe that the food we serve should be nourishing, not just tasty. That’s why we’re transitioning away from seed oils and embracing healthier alternatives.

Our New Commitment: Only 100% Cold Pressed Avocado Oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and Ghee

As part of our journey to become seed oil-free, we’ve made the conscious decision to use only 100% cold-pressed avocado oil, extra virgin olive oil, and ghee (clarified butter) in all of our cooking and food preparation. Here’s why we believe these oils are better choices for our customers:

  • Cold-Pressed Avocado Oil: This oil is rich in heart-healthy monounsaturated fats, making it a great choice for anyone looking to improve their cardiovascular health. It also contains vitamin E, an antioxidant that supports skin health and immune function. Plus, it’s a versatile oil with a mild flavor that works beautifully in everything from dressings to sautéing.
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil: A key ingredient in the Mediterranean diet, extra virgin olive oil is widely praised for its health benefits. It’s loaded with antioxidants and polyphenols that have anti-inflammatory properties, helping to reduce the risk of chronic diseases. It’s also packed with healthy fats that support brain function and overall well-being.
  • Ghee (Clarified Butter): Ghee is a traditional fat used in many cultures, known for its high smoke point and rich, nutty flavor. Unlike regular butter, ghee is free of milk solids and is easier to digest. It’s also rich in butyrate, a short-chain fatty acid that supports gut health and reduces inflammation. Ghee is perfect for high-heat cooking like frying and roasting.

By using these healthier alternatives, we can offer our customers the rich flavors they love while also supporting their health goals.

What Does This Mean for You, Our Valued Customer?

We know that food is about more than just nourishment; it’s about experience, enjoyment, and connection. As we transition away from seed oils, our goal is not just to improve the quality of the ingredients we use but also to elevate the meals we serve.

For our regulars, you’ll notice that the food you love at Ron’s Original Bar & Grille will taste even better as we continue to experiment with new, creative ways to use avocado oil, olive oil, and ghee. Whether it’s the rich, buttery flavor of ghee in our sautéed vegetables or the smooth, velvety texture of avocado oil mayo in our sandwiches, we’re confident you’ll enjoy the difference these high-quality oils make.

For those of you who are concerned about health and nutrition, we want you to know that we’ve got your back. Our decision to eliminate seed oils isn’t just a trend—it’s a commitment to helping you feel your best.
