From Scratch

According to Merriam-Webster, “To create something from scratch is to make it without any ingredients or materials prepared ahead of time.”

The term “scratch” is all about the start or beginnings. Originating in the sports arena, the scratch was the starting line in a race, likely from such a line being scratched into the earth when races were held on soft terrain. The term was also used in boxing where it referred to a line drawn across the ring, at which opponents would be brought from opposite corners to start the match.

Today, however, we use the term “from scratch” to describe how we cook or prepare things. Using only fresh, unaltered ingredients that aren’t preprepared or loaded with additives. Creating from scratch, using clean, fresh ingredients is exactly how we do it here at Ron’s Original Bar & Grille in Exton, PA.

The Importance of Scratch Made

Over the years, Ron has put a lot of research into the benefits of scratch cooking. In short, the fresher, cleaner and more natural the food we consume is, the healthier it is and with that comes the increased chances of maintaining good health. That’s why we insist on starting all of our recipes from scratch without the use of artificial ingredients, additives, preservatives, GMOs and more.  Here at Ron’s Original, it is our pleasure to serve you delicious, scratch-made wholesome meals at reasonable prices without sacrificing taste.
